Normally, HFM will have multiple data sources. The trail balance will be loaded from general ledger system. User may have some balance adjustments from data form or SmartView templates. If you use HFM to handle the full statutory reporting, there will be some worksheets for the analysis schedules (e.g. tax calculation, balance sheet movements, bank loans, etc.)
Then clear data will be an important step when consider reloading. The default clear data scope is by sub cube (i.e. by scenario, year, period, entity). For example, if user reload the trail balance with “Replace” mode, HFM will clear all the data for that scenario, year, period and entity. If there are already some data loaded from template, user needs to reload the template as these data will be cleared in “Replace” process.
At FDM, we can use “protect value” or “global account” to avoid above case happening. However, I will not talk about details at this post because this post is about on-demand rule at data form. If you are interested to know the situation about “protect value” or “global account” at FDM, please leave message. I will write another post about it.
For the analysis schedules, our users always want to have an option that they can clear one schedule’s data with least impact to other schedules. At 11.1.1.3 version, we can only let users to use “Submit zero” function at SmartView to overwrite those incorrect figures. But it is quite time-consuming to do so.
At 11.1.2.3 version, there is a new feature that user can execute on-demand rule through data form. By using this feature, we create on-demand rules to clear specific worksheet’s data. Below is how we set up this.
In rule file, we add the subs as following.
Then we create one data form for each schedule. The form will show the summary of what has been submitted from that schedule.
In the data form’s design mode, we assign the corresponding on-demand rule to the form.
With this setting, there will be green tick appear at the toolbar of data form. Once user click the green tick and select the on-demand rule, the data of that schedule will be cleared.
That’s all about how we use the on-demand rule function at our HFM to provide users a better option to clear data. I hope you find it useful, and if you have any questions about implementing this, please leave message at this post.
